About Solusius

Solusius is a law firm specialised in advising treasury departments and CFOs of large corporates. The firm is founded by Maarten Steyerberg, who has a broad experience as legal counsel to treasury departments of multinationals. Solusius cooperates with a broad network of treasury lawyers who can assist if additional capacity is needed or specific knowledge is required.

For instance, Solusius has called the advice of a specialist to review such matters as the carbon trading paragraph of an ISDA Agreement and specifics of the real estate fund financing. Furthermore, Solusius can, if requested by the company, involve specialists in the fields of M&A, tax, debt restructuring, etc.

Maarten Steyerberg, founder of Solusius, is a legal counsel with an economic and legal background and a broad corporate experience. As in-house legal counsel, he has over 15 years’ experience in advising corporate treasury departments of multinationals.

LeasePlan Corporation, Senior Finance Counsel a.i. (1/2014 – 5/2014)
Responsible for legal assistance to corporate treasury in Dublin (debt issue programs: EMTN, Kangaroo and 144A, bilateral loans, syndicated facilities, ISDA agreements, guarantees, etc.).

Akzo Nobel, Senior Corporate Counsel a.i. (10/2012 – 4/2013)
Responsible for the legal aspects of two international divestures and various companywide projects, such as the set–up of a finance company structure in the UK, the European restructuring of the Deco division and related employee participation.

Akzo Nobel, Senior Legal Counsel Treasury a.i. (1/2011 – 9/2012)
Responsible for the legal support to the global corporate treasury department. Activities included negotiation of loan documentation, guarantees, ISDA documentation, the negotiation of seven regional mandates to provide cash management/payment services, in-house bank and payment factory documentation, negotiation of and LMA based EUR 1.8 billion Revolving Credit Facility, set up of EMTN program and US CP Program, issue and repurchase of bonds and all other contracts AkzoNobel enters into with its banks world-wide.

ABN AMRO Bank, Senior Legal Counsel Lending a.i. (4/2010 – 12/2010)
Activities include negotiation of various loan documentation on for ABN AMRO Bank as lender (almost all LMA based), including syndicated loans, ‘clubdeals’, acquisition and leveraged finance, bilateral facilities and all related documentation, such as legal opinions, notary letter, security documents, etc.

Secretary to the Board of Management, Supervisory Board, Audit Committee and Governance Committee; responsible for compliance with internal/external governance as well as logistics and minutes of all board meetings, the organization of the annual meeting of shareholders, corporate crisis management and the secretariat of the board.
